Three key officials in the public institution hierarchy have resigned from their posts citing personal reasons recently creating confusion on the present regime's appointments to high posts.
Nushad Perera, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) announced that he has resigned from his position to return to the private sector.
The letter of resignation was handed over to the Secretary to the Ministry of Technology on April 19 and he officially resigned after the last Board of Directors meeting on April 30, Mr. Perera said.
Mr. Perera said he had resigned after informing senior government leaders and he would join a leading private institution in Sri Lanka in the future.
Perera was appointed to the post of SLSI Chairman on the 28th of December 2020. He also previously served as the Chairman of the Sathosa.
Meanwhile, Development Lotteries Board (DLB) Chairman Amitha Kumara Gamage has also resigned a couple of days ago becoming the second official to do so on May 2nd.
He has tendered his resignation letter to Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa citing personal reasons.
Mr Amitha Gamage was appointed as the Chairman of Gems and Jewellery Authority soon after the current government came into power. Thereafter, he was appointed as Chairman of the DLB.
Director General of the Department of Government Information Nalaka Kaluwewa also resigned from his post in March.
