Development of several roads in the Anuradhapura District under the North Central Province Joint Road Investment Programme commenced today (04) under the patronage of the Minister of Highways and Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando and the State Minister of Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lansa.
Under this programme, the 27 km Thalawa Kekirawa road (B 213), the 7 km Kekirawa Ganewalpola road (B212) and the 45 km Ganewalpola Dachchihalmillewa road (B133) will be carpeted.
Accordingly, eighty kilometers will be developed at a total cost of Rs. 6745 million.
Although the previous government of good governance had laid the foundation stones for these projects under the guise of initiating development without obtaining Cabinet approval, no development work has taken place so far.
Minister of Lands S.M. Chandrasena, State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, former North Central Province Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith, local political representatives, the North Central Provincial Director of the Road Development Authority and other officials were present at the occasion.
