It appears that the United National Party (UNP) is once again in a state of crisis as the proposed reforms within the party have not taken place.
UNP stalwarts Navin Dissanayake and Arjuna Ranatunga held a press conference today in this regard.
Addressing the media, former minister Navin Dissanayake said that he did not accept the post of national organiser as the expected reforms, including the leadership, had not taken place.
"I am still a member of the UNP. I will not leave the party. I was appointed as the national organiser of the UNP at the last Working Committee meeting but I did not accept it as the proposed reforms are not going ahead as planned," he said.
Meanwhile, the recently appointed Senior Vice President of the UNP, Arjuna Ranatunga said, "I have also made a decision. I was given the post of Senior Vice President. I am not a politician looking for positions. I am still a member of the UNP. I will decide in the future as to how I will engage in politics."
