Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has not informed in writing or verbally his resignation from the post of Chairman of the Kelaniya Rajamaha Vihara patron's council (dhayaka sabha), said co-secretary of the council, Saman Ranasinghe.
Ranasinghe has told the media that such a communication would have to be directed to either the chief incumbent of the temple or the three co-secretaries.
However, neither Ranasinghe not the other two co-secretaries have been informed of Wickremesinghe's resignation.
According to Ranasinghe, the patrons had to decide on removing Wickremesinghe as the Chairman of the council since he has failed to perform the duties of the head of the respective council.
He has added that the outcome of the vote taken on the matter was evident of this fact.
