The first official discussion between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the presidential hopeful of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Gotabaya Rajapaksa was held on Wednesday (28) night.
The meeting took place at Rajapaksa’s official residence.
The discussion has focused on the ongoing talks between the SLFP and SLPP to form a political alliance and the forthcoming presidential election.
The SLFP delegation has discussed the areas that have been agreed upon by the SLFP and SLPP during those discussions.
It has also been agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the SLFP and Rajapaksa if the two parties agree to work together at the presidential election.
The SLFP was represented by party General Secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, General Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Mahinda Amaraweera and SLFP Treasurer MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna.
