The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) are to hold a decisive meeting this week, said United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Dullas Alahapperuma.
Accordingly, the discussion is to take place between President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Alahapperuma however refrained from mentioning the date when the discussion would take place.
He noted that focus during the meeting will be on the forthcoming presidential election.
Alahapperuma further noted that the SLPP’s broad political alliance will be formed before the announcement of the presidential election and that the name of the new political alliance would be officially announced when the alliance is being formed.
