The revision application filed by former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa challenging the Trial-at-Bar order dated January 11, 2019 in the D. A. Rajapaksa Museum case was fixed for May 17 by Court of Appeal.
Court of Appeal two-judge-bench comprising justice Achala Wengappuli and Justice Arjuna Obeysekera fixed the application for May 17 in order to announce a date for the order.
On February 11, the Permanent High Court-at-Bar decided to overrule preliminary objections raised by Gotabaya Rajapaksa and six others in connection with the D. A. Rajapaksa Museum case citing that the Permanent High Court-at-Bar has jurisdiction to hear this case.
The former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence is being charged in connection with the alleged misappropriation of public funds belonging to the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (LRDC), amounting to Rs. 33.9 million, that was used to construct D.A. Rajapaksa Museum and Memorial in Medamulana.
