Incoming reports suggest that MP Namal Rajapaksa is now on a mission to secure funding in order to attract government political activists to the Joint Opposition.
List of Businessman
According to sources several officers of the Tharunyata Hetak organization have been deployed for the cause after being provided with a list of businessman and political activists who had sought various types of aid from the MP during the rule of the previous government.
Calls from Namal
Making several calls to leading businessman in the country Namal is said to have personally requested for financial sponsorship for the ongoing election campaign from them.
Sources claim the MP has also contacted several millionaire businessmen in this regard. These businessmen are said to be some who are suspected to have and been accused of assisting financial fraud by the Police Financial Crimes Division (FCID).
Intelligence agencies on alert
Meanwhile, government intelligence agencies have commenced an investigation into the recent sale of the Gower building located in Colombo 5 believed to be owned by MP Namal Rajapaksa to popular businessman Nandana Jayadeva Lokuwithana.
Sources claim a special unit of the state intelligence has been created to monitor money laundering activities which is common during election periods in the country.
