Former Army Commander and presidential candidate of the National People’s Movement (NPM), Mahesh Senanayake says he will continue in politics even after the presidential election on November 16th.
Senanayake made this observation in response to a question posed by the media on his plans after the presidential election.
He has said the NPM’s political journey would not end after November 16th and that he has decided to move forward towards parliamentary elections.
He has noted that he had come forward as a presidential candidate in order to safeguard the country which is in turmoil.
“My main priorities are to curb bribe and corruption, to uplift the economy and to ensure national security,” Senanayake has said.
The former Army Commander has added that he only intended to develop the country together with patriots and has no self-interest in becoming the president.
